Corel Painter : How To Blobs Filter

WhereThe Corel Painter Blobs filter can be found in the filters and esotericaPaste buffer approach This effect does require a little setup before use in that it works using the current pasteboard (clipboard, paste buffer) so you can copy literally anything into the pasteboard and use with the effect. You can also set the source to be patterns (which can also be anything such as tiles or type or images etc).Using nozzles File and open command and open a RIFF file (native format) and select menu and reselect. Edit menu and copy. Now you have the graphic design in the pasteboard, you can now go to the filter menu and esoterica and blobs and set the number of objects (the more you go for the better the effect but it can be slow) and set the size such as minimum 50 and maximum 500 (though it is probably not to push the maximum as the pasteboard may only contain an image of 300 px) and set the seed and subsample. Click OK. Unfortunately, the effect does not appear to work on layers but you can always just create a number of new images and apply the effect again and again in different documents and then copy those and paste back and use those as layers and combine with blending modes. You can apply the effect multiple times with different settings as well as different nozzles in the pasteboard Use with current colorYou can also use the current color. Doesn't sound so great but you can create some very abstract and unusual designs by using the current color (which can be blue, green, yellow etc as required) and changing the color each time you apply the filter. Set color to orange Apply the filter with the current color option. Set the color to yellow and apply the filter again. set color to blue, etc. You can also change the seed by clicking on the refresh button as well as changing the minimum and maximum size and number for each application of the effect. You can set the value for the maximum and minimum to the same to get no variation and set the value very low to get smaller droplets of color.Victorian Paper MarblingGreat for creating those old Victorian book 'paper marbling' looks with multiple applications of the filter with different colors. The result can then be added to by using effects or perhaps interweaving it with other Painter effects such as blurs and apply surface textures and image luminance setting, to add depth to the color and combine them in multiple ways to create blurry smeared objects. Use with patterns Patterns can be a great source as well and patterns can be anything, they can be just an image that has been defined as a pattern. Goto the window menu and media control panels and 'patterns'. Go to the right side menu and capture pattern. Go to the effects menu and esoterica apply it with the patterns option. Patterns can be any size so you can play with minimum and maximum size option. You can also select other images and other patterns and designs (such as many of the artworks on this site) and use those as a pattern and then apply them via the effect. Photo letter You can use photo letter brush strokes as a source for the pattern and applies the filter to the source of the pattern to create a weird and wonderful distorted blobby type effect. Many different types of effects can be achieved by using different patterns. You can also use the painter grains / paper textures as a great source for the effect as the texture can be quickly re-defined as a pattern (basically they are much the same except one is gray scale and the other color) or perhaps use the paper textures as an express texture etc and then define that as a pattern and so on.
