Additional notes

1) Format.

Wavy Line brush set is stored in native Illustrator brush (AI) format for maximum compatibility. The current saved format is version 8. Use in all versions upwards

2) Artistic format.

All the wavy line brushes by default are in artistic Illustrator brush format. The brushes can be easily converted into pattern or scatter by dragging them from the brush palette and then back to the document brush palette (you will be requested for a new name and also settings for the new brush). Some sets are stored by default in scatter format and can be re-set to artistic and pattern.

3) As brush.

Select a path and then select a brush, the brush will then be appended to the brush. The actual result will depend on the brush settings. Changing the brush settings will also result in a change to the brush stroke (if so desired)

4) Tints.

The brush can be applied as is but you can also tint or hue the brush via the brush settings.

5) Direction.

Modify brush / direction and more via the brush palette.

6) Modify.

Modify the brush by expanding and re-saving as a new brush to create unique brush designs

7) Mixed brushes.

The brush can be used as is but you can also select multiple brushes, drag from the brush palette, combine (via pathfinder) and then re-drag back into the brushes palette to create a new brush design

8) Overlay wavy line brushes.

The brushes can be applied but to create a 'realistic' brush stroke, you can also modify the transparency of the brush and apply multiple brush strokes. Apply brushes with different blending modes and different opacity settings to create realistic brushed designs and illustrations

9) Layers.

Use brushes on layers and release brush strokes to layers for animation

10) Frames.

Use the brush as a quick way of making a frame. Select a square or circle design and apply the brush, instant frame design.

11) Symbols.

Drag the brush from the brush palette (or apply the brush to a path) and then drag the path or brush back into the symbols palette, a great way of creating a symbols collection. The brushes sets come with tools to convert a large selection of brushes to symbols.

12) Text.

Apply the wavy line brush strokes to converted text

13) Export brushes.

Export the brush strokes to Photoshop and apply styles etc.

14) Brushes and styles.

Expand brush and apply styles such as scribble or 3D

15) Warp.

Drag the brush from the brush palette, apply warp tools to the brush or perspective to modify the brush, re-save as a new brush.

16) Live Trace.

Use Illustrator brush stroke with live traced images to add a dash to any image

17) Scripts.

The brushes can be accessed by scripts (Javascript or vbscript ones) but the range of settings is fairly limited, such as apply to a path. You cannot modify the brushes in scripts at present

18) Installation.

Brushes are native format files (version 8). The brushes may be placed in the presets brushes folder (though they can be located in a different folder). The brushes are then accessible via the brushes palette / brushes libraries menu. Once loaded, the individual brushes are added to the document's brushes library as used.
